 BIR 200/150 is a DeskTop Volume Computed Tomography (VCT), Digital Radiography (DR), andFluoroscopy system consisting of the following components, subsystems, and options:

• Quad Core Intel® Xeon™ workstation and Windows based ACTIS-5 application software• Reconstruction Accelerator• Hamamatsu 150 kV micro-focus x-ray system• Varian PaxScan 2520V amorphous silicon flat panel detector with 1408 x 1888 pixels at 127 μm• Precision servo controlled mechanics• Cabling, power supplies, and motion control system• X-ray shielded enclosure• Integration, testing, training, documentation, and one year warranty• On-site installation, set-up, and training

The system is suitable for x-ray inspection of metallic, organic, composite, plastic, and mixed items over a wide range of density and materials. The system produces cross sectional volume CT images, digital radiographic images, and fluoroscopic (live) images. In addition to density mapping, VCT provides complete 3-D morphology of parts with highly accurate dimensioning capability. VCT also provides superior flaw detection capability of extremely small cracks, porosity and voids that are not visible with film radiography or RTR inspection.

The cover photo shows a BIR 200/150 configured as a "DeskTop" system with a radiation-shieldedenclosure. The enclosure covers are situated on slide rails for easy opening and access to the partmanipulator while an integral base assures precise alignment of critical system components.
